Local Study

1000 Years of Trowbridge history

History, heritage and culture in a historic mill

If you are focusing on the history of Trowbridge and the local area, we have lots of activities and resources relating to the town’s history, heritage and famous local people such as Thomas Helliker. Typical activities include mapping change, the woollen industry and cultural diversity and we also offer guided walks around the town so your class can explore the history for themselves. Our museum displays are integral to our workshops and enable your students to really engage with the town’s history. We also have some Local History loans boxes available for hire which include a wealth of images and original objects from our handling collection.
