Its official: Onwards and Upwards!

Our £2.4 million expansion plans were given a significant boost this week with a National Lottery grant of £1,172,500. This was the biggest grant to be awarded in Wiltshire.

Trowbridge has a rich and rare townscape built upon the manufacturing of West of England woollen cloth…Now Lottery funding is set to conserve the historic building, expand gallery space and create new facilities for visitors including a lift and library and learning space. Displays will be reimagined and the textile heritage of other buildings will be told through a new app.

Nerys Watts, Head of Heritage Lottery Fund South West, said, ‘Thanks to money raised by National Lottery players, we’re delighted to support Trowbridge Museum as it begins an exciting new chapter in telling the story of the town and its fascinating heritage. As well as conserving the historic Home Mill, this project will transform the way collections are displayed, improve access for people of all ages and create vital new community and learning space’.
