Illuminating the Overlooked

Visit our fantastic first and FREE exhibition in the newly redeveloped Trowbridge museum, Illuminating the Overlooked. The exhibition brings Trowbridge’s multi-layered cultural histories, narratives, and physical places into the light.

Created and delivered by 3 local artists: Jen Hamblin, Kati Saqui, and Laurence Ingram, who wish to validate, recover, revamp, retrieve and regain the status of past, present hidden or lost scenes and narratives of Trowbridge in a contemporary artistic way. The artworks in this collaboration intertwine, to highlight and retrieve these aspects of Trowbridge’s industrial and cultural progress. To foreground and regain the physicality and humanness that makes up the town’s collective history. This exhibition emphasises both the need to recall things past, the beauty in capturing on fabric, through a lens and through conversations the immediacy of seeing the beauty in what may seem insignificant, and the possibility and magic of re-imagining and reinventing a new history.

Illuminating the Overlooked will run from May until October 2021.
