Join us on 6 April between 5-7pm to celebrate the growing cultural  offer in Trowbridge

Trowbridge Museum has teamed up with Town Hall Arts and the Drawing Projects UK to offer an evening of events across all three venues.
Enjoy the exhibitions and explore art in Trowbridge at your own pace or with a guided walking tour around each venue. The evening will start with drinks at 5pm at Drawing Projects UK at Bridge House on Stallard Street, and the guided tours will commence from there. All three venues are open from 5-7pm and the events are free of charge.

5-7pm: Enjoy welcome drinks at 5pm and learn more about the centre for drawing and contemporary art at Bridge House. See the current exhibition, Greyscale, an exhibition by 5 Australian artists that explores themes of grey and greyness and its significant cultural and scientific properties as colour and tone.  The exhibition includes work by Peter Burgess, Julia Davis, Adrian Gerbers, Pollyxenia Joannou and Lisa Jones. Peter, Julia and Lisa will be present for the event.

5-7pm: Learn more about the planned museum expansion and visit the amazing space above the museum which will open up in 2020. There will also be weaving demonstrations and a chance to see the temporary exhibition ‘Banned’ plus our new display about the cloth woven in Trowbridge in the 1960s for clients like Mary Quant, Marks & Spencer, Aquascutum and many more.

5-7pm: View the Artist’s Film and Video exhibition created in collaboration with Bath Spa University MA Curatorial Practice students. Expect to find artists moving image works in the main gallery and throughout the Town Hall building.
7.30 p.m.: Listen to David Birk’s talk 1000 Years of Warp and Weft, using objects from Trowbridge Museum’s collection, revealing how cloth making developed into an international trade driven by wealthy Wiltshire clothiers. Tickets for this talk will be free to all visitors of the Explore Art Trowbridge event and should be collected from Drawing Projects UK from 5.00 p.m. on the day of the event.
